Popcorn Cupcakes

Get ready and cosy for your next movie night with these stunning Popcorn Cupcakes! They’re a little tedious to do than a regular cupcake, but the result is super delicious! 🍿

Here’s What You’ll Need (Makes 12)

Here’s a cheeky tip: Instead of purchasing all the cupcake ingredients, you can skip straight to the fun part by buying a pack of your favourite ready-made cupcakes, or a pack of cupcake mix from your local supermarket!

For the cupcakes:

  • 125g caster sugar
  • 125g butter or margarine, softened
  • 125g self-raising flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 Cupcake Cases

Here's What You'll Do:

Bake Your Cupcakes:
  1. Whisk together the butter, sugar and vanilla extract into a large bowl. Sift in the flour, add the eggs and beat everything together.
  2. Pop your cupcake cases into a cupcake tray. Using a large tablespoon, fill each cupcake case half full with your delicious mixture.
  3. Place in the oven and bake at 180C for 20 minutes (You’ll know they’re fully baked when you insert a wooden skewer and it comes out clean). When finished, remove from the oven and leave to completely cool.
  1. Pop your Vanilla Frosting in a piping bag with a nozzle attached to it and pipe it over each of your cupcakes (for best results, follow step 2 straight after one cupcake at a time as the frosting may harden fast).
  2. Take your White Mini Marshmallows and, using a pair of scissors, cut one tip of the Mini Marshmallow horizontally and vertically to mimic a popped popcorn. Take a Yellow Cake Pen and colour it a bit to give it a popcorn colour and place it on your frosted cupcake. Repeat this process till the entire frosted cupcake is covered. Do this for all your cupcakes.
  3. Finally, using your Gold Glitter  Spray, spray each cupcake to add a little glow and shine and enjoy!
