Firework Cupcakes

The New Year is a time of family celebrations and making plans for the next year, and don’t forget the fireworks! These Catherine Wheel inspired cupcakes are incredibly easy to make and would be the perfect treat when welcoming 2016.

We have shown you the firework design on both fondant icing and buttercream frosting so you can choose your favourite, or indeed try both and have a great selection of sweet treats for the New Year.

 

All you will need is: ready to roll icing or buttercream frosting, a Milk Choco Writer, star shaped sprinkles and a batch of freshly baked cupcakes.

 

Icing:

For fondant icing, roll out some ready to roll icing and use a round cake cutter to cut out circles and place the shapes on top of your cupcakes

If you would rather use buttercream frosting, prepare your frosting and pipe onto your cupcakes to create large swirls

 

Decoration:

Prepare your Choco Writer as instructed on the packaging (leave to melt in a jug of boiling water and carefully snip off the end of the nozzle) and draw the swirl firework design, starting from the centre and working your way out

Before the swirl has had time to set, scatter some star shaped sprinkles over your chocolate and icing
