Mother's Day Biscuits
Mums are superheroes who deserve a day of pampering and appreciation. And what better way to show your gratitude than whipping up a batch of homemade biscuits with love? This easy-peasy recipe is a delicious way to make mum feel extra special. With a handful of pantry staples and Cake Décor products you can create a warm, buttery batch of biscuits, perfect for munching in bed or snacking together. So, let’s get those aprons on, and start baking your way to Mom’s heart!
Here’s What You’ll Need
125g cold unsalted butter (cubed)
125g caster sugar
250g plain flour
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pink sugarpaste/ White sugarpaste/ Red colour gel
Cake Décor Edible glue
Cake Décor Cake pen
Here's What You'll Do:
- Beat together butter and sugar until creamed.
- Add in egg and vanilla and beat again, your mixture might look odd but it will come together with the flour.
- Add in flour and mix until a dough is formed.
- Turn out onto a floured surface and knead the dough into a ball and then cover with film and chill in the fridge for 1 hour.
- Once chilled, roll dough out on floured surface, using an heart shaped and small round cutters to cut out your biscuit shapes.
- Place your shapes on prepared baking trays and place in the fridge to chill again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 190ºC/180 ºC
- Bake biscuits for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Leave to cool slightly on tray before transferring to a wire rack to cool fully.
Decorate:
- Once fully cool your biscuits are ready to decorate.
- Colour Sugarpaste then roll your pink sugarpaste out. Using the heart and round shaped cutters cut out your sugarpaste to stick onto each biscuit with Edible Glue. Repeat until all biscuit are covered, leave for a few hours to allow the sugarpaste to harden.
- Once sugarpaste has dried and hardened you can decorate with cake pens, drawing flowers or writing messages to your Mum.
(Top tip … for an extra special effect you can use the cake pens to create an ombre effect on some bubble writing, using a darker colour at the bottom of the letter with a lighter colour at the
