Here’s What You’ll Need

125g cold unsalted butter (cubed)

125g caster sugar

250g plain flour

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

Red sugarpaste

Cake Décor Edible glue

Cake Décor Cake pens

Cake Décor Edible Eyes

Here's What You'll Do:
  1. Beat together butter and sugar until creamed.
  2. Add in egg and vanilla and beat again, your mixture might look odd, but it will come together with the flour.
  3. Add in flour and mix until a dough is formed.
  4. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead the dough into a ball and then cover with film and chill in the fridge for 1 hour.
  5. Once chilled, roll dough out on floured surface then using a heart shaped cutter – cut out your biscuit shapes.
  6. Place your heart shapes on prepared baking trays and place in the fridge to chill again for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 190ºC/180 ºC
  8. Bake biscuits for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Leave to cool slightly on tray before transferring to a wire rack to cool fully.
Decorate:
  1. Once fully cool your biscuits are ready to decorate. Roll out the red sugarpaste and cut with your heart shaped cutter. 
  2. Using edible glue, stick the red sugarpaste hearts onto each biscuit. Repeat until all biscuits are covered.  (Leave the red sugarpaste to harden for a few hours.)
  3. Once your sugarpaste has hardened you can now decorate with a black cake pen to give your heart shaped biscuits a lovebug face, wings and dots.
  4. When you have added in all of your lovebug details, use the edible glue to stick two Edible Eyes to each lovebug.
