Teddy Bear Pancakes
Pancake day is just around the corner and instead normal pancakes why not make these teddy-rrific pancakes that all the kids will love.
Here’s What You’ll Need
175g self raising flour
1tsp baking powder
40g caster sugar
1 egg
200 ml milk
Cake Décor Writing icing
Cake Décor Edible Eyes
Here's What You'll Do:
- Add self-raising flour, baking powder and caster sugar into a bowl and mix well. Make a well in the center of the mixture.
- Add the egg and a little milk and begin to mix with a fork or whisk, adding in more milk gradually until you have a smooth and thick batter.
- Grease a frying pan if not non-stick, place on a low heat. (If using an electric griddle, preheat to low.)
- Using an ice cream scoop, or dessertspoon, drop the batter onto the pan leaving space between each to allow the mixture to spread.
- Cook for a few minutes, allowing bubbles to start to appear on the surface then flip each pancake using a spatula. Cook for a further minute or so until the pancake is golden brown on both sides (if your first pancake strip is not golden cook for a little longer or increase the heat slightly.)
- You will need to make two large circular pancakes and six smaller circular pancakes to make up your bear.
- Once all pancakes have been cooked, they will be ready to decorate.
(Top tip, placing the pancakes onto a folded tea towel and covering over helps to keep your pancakes soft and warmer for longer.)
Decorate:
- Place your pancake on a plate starting with a large pancake for the tummy in the middle of the plate before adding a second large pancake above for the face. Tuck two smaller pancakes under the top of the face pancake for ears before arranging the last four against the tummy pancake as paws.
- It is now time to add some character to the pancakes. Use a black writing icing tube to add a nose and smile to the face of your bear. Above the nose add two dots of writing icing and place an Edible Eye on top of each dot. To finish off your bear use the black writing icing tube to add a paw pad pattern to the feet of your wear.
