Farm Animal Cupcakes
PIGLET CUPCAKE
No pig deal, but these super cute Piglet Cupcakes will be the star attraction at any child’s birthday party. They are so easy to make and are the perfect cute cupcakes to decorate with your little ones.
Here’s a cheeky tip: Instead of purchasing all the cupcake ingredients, you can skip straight to the fun part by buying a pack of your favourite ready-made cupcakes, or a pack of cupcake mix from your local supermarket!
For the cupcakes:
- 125g caster sugar
- 125g butter or margarine, softened
- 125g self-raising flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1tsp vanilla extract
For the Piglet:
- Edible Eyes
- Edible Glue
- Pink Ready-to-roll Icing
Here’s an easy recipe if you fancy baking your own delicious cupcakes:
- Whisk together the butter, sugar and vanilla extract into a large bowl. Sift in the flour, add the eggs and beat everything together.
- Pop your cupcake cases into a cupcake tray. Using a large tablespoon, fill each cupcake case half full with your delicious mixture.
- Place in the oven and bake at 180C for 20 minutes. When finished, remove from the oven and leave to completely cool.
Here’s how you create your piglet:
- Roll your pink ready-to-roll icing and cut a large (7cm) circle. You can use a cookie cutter if it’s around.
- Using the end of an angled straw or a scallop and comb modelling tool, add a smile
to the bottom of the pink base (Smiles look great at an angle and adds some extra cute character). Set the disc aside to dry. - Create the piglet’s snout by rolling a thick piece of the icing and cut it into a small (3cm) circle. Gently squash both sides of the circle to create an oval. Using a thin stick or scriber needle, add two cute nostrils to your pigs snout.
- For the ears, roll your pink icing and cut two triangles. Using your fingers, gently push the top part of the triangle to create a softer end to the ears and bend each ear slightly and set to dry (It adds extra character if the ears are different shapes and sizes).
- Once dry, assemble your piglet. Using Edible Glue, put the snout just above the piglet’s smile, and place the ears on top of the piglet’s head. Finally, it’s time to add two Edible Eyes above the snout to bring your piglet cupcakes to life!
MONKEY CUPCAKE
If there was a cupcake competition, these Monkey Cupcakes would be the chimpion. These are so fun to make… your kids will go bananas!

Using Edible Glue, place the lighter circle on top of the small dark circle. Create an indent in the middle using your fingertips to give it some dimension. Cut the circle in half to create two monkey ears, and set aside to dry.
- For the monkey’s face, take the light-brown icing, cut a small circle and gently push the sides to create an oval. Stick the light oval on top of the larger dark circle and add a cute smile using an angled straw or comb modelling tool (put the mouth at a slight angle to give it more character). Roll out another small circle using the light brown icing and cut the bottom quarter off to create a curved edge that fits above the monkey’s mouth. Use some Edible Glue to stick above the mouth.
- It’s finally time to assemble your Monkey. Roll out a little piece of black icing into a small ball to create a nose, and a teardrop shaped piece of brown icing to create its hair. Add a line through the brown teardrop to create hair detail, then attach them all using Edible Glue.
- To finish off, add the dried ears on either side of the monkey’s face using Edible Glue. Lastly, add some Edible Eyes to bring your Monkey cupcake to life!
TIGER CUPCAKE
These roar-some Tiger Cupcakes are so cute that your loved ones won’t get enough of them. Don’t be lion to yourself, you know you want these!

- To create the ears, take some more orange icing and create two teardrop shapes. Using your fingertips, push an indent into each tear. Pinch the pointy ends to create your desired shape, and push the bottom of the tear flat so it’s easier to attach to the base.
- To create the mouth, roll the lighter orange icing and cut out a small (3cm) circle. Using your fingers, squash the edges to create an oval shape. Whilst it’s soft, use a knife to press a line in halfway down the oval, stopping around the center. Draw in a smile with either the end of an angled straw, or a comb modelling tool.
- Create a nose by forming a small triangular shape from some black icing. Stick this to the top of the oval using Edible Glue. Use a cocktail stick or a scriber needle tool to add three holes to each side of the oval face (this will make it look like your tiger has whiskers). Add the light orange face to the dried orange base using Edible Glue.
To create the tiger stripes, roll out a thick section of black icing. Cut out small, slim triangular shapes with a knife and add these to the sides and top of the tigers head using Edible Glue (don’t worry if they’re all not the same size – having differences in sizes will just add some extra character).
Once your tiger has its stipes, simply stick the two ears to the top of its head using Edible Glue. Finally, add some Edible Eyes to bring your tiger cupcakes to life!
PANDA CUPCAKE
These Panda Cupcakes are a PANDAstic way to keep your kids busy and entertained. They are so easy to make and there’s plenty of room for creativity!

Create the Panda’s ears by rolling out some black icing and cuting out a small (3cm) circle. Cut the circle in half and leave to dry and harden. Meanwhile, take some more black icing and form a large triangle shape for the Panda’s nose (Try to keep the longer edge of the triangle slightly rounded so the nose shape looks realistic).
To create the Panda’s eyes, roll some black icing and cut two circles which are a little larger than the size of the Edible Eyes. Attach the Edible Eyes to the black circles using Edible Glue. Gently push the eyes slightly into the black circles to spread each circle out into a slightly different shaped oval shape (this adds a cute touch to the Panda’s face).
It’s time to assemble your Panda! Stick the ears to the top of the Panda’s face and the nose just below the middle of the white base. To create its mouth, roll a small black icing ball and squash with your finger to form a dot (we’re making our Panda surprised, but you can always give it a cute smile). Stick the Panda’s mouth underneath the nose with Edible Glue.
Finally bring your Panda to life by adding your Edible Eyes in their black shadows above the nose!
LADYBIRD CUPCAKE

- Roll out the black icing and cut out a large (7cm) circle. Add a small semicircle smile close to one edge of the base using the end of an angled straw, or a scallop and comb modelling tool (this will be the Ladybird’s smile). Set this base aside to dry and harden.
- To create the Ladybird’s wings, roll out the red icing and cut a large (7cm) circle. Cut the bottom quarter from the large red base to create space for the Ladybird’s face. Using a knife, cut this shape in half to create two wings. Set these to the side to dry.
- Once dry, add the wings to the black icing base using Edible Glue. Ensure there’s space for the smiley face and body of the Ladybird underneath.
- Roll out some small balls of black icing and flatten them with your finger to create the dots for the ladybird. Add these to the red wings using Edible Glue.
- Finally, bring your Ladybird to life by adding two Edible Eyes above the smile
