Add a touch of stunning gold to your Easter dessert table by baking a batch of these super easy Gold Egg Nest Cupcakes! These are so easy to bake and the Gold Eggs will definitely catch the Easter Bunny’s eyes! 🐰

Here's What You'll Need To Make 12:

Here’s a cheeky tip: Instead of purchasing all the cupcake ingredients, you can skip straight to the fun part by buying a pack of your favourite ready-made cupcakes, or a pack of cupcake mix from your local supermarket!

For the chocolate cupcakes:

  • 100g Plain Flour
  • 20g Cocoa Powder
  • 140g Caster Sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp Baking Powder
  • 40g Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
  • 120ml Whole Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • ¼ tsp Vanilla Extract

For the toppings:

Here's What You'll Do:

Bake Your Cupcakes:
  1. Pre-heat your oven to 180°C/ 160°C fan/ gas 4.
  2. Starting with your dry ingredients, sift the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder in a large bowl. Add in the butter and whisk until everything is combined and you achieve a sandy consistency (you can always use an electric whisk to make it easier).
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg and vanilla extract. Once combined, slowly pour half of the mixture in the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix well. Pour in the rest of the wet ingredient mixture and continue mixing until everything is well combined and the mixture is nice and smooth.
  4. Pop your cupcake cases into a cupcake tray. Using a large tablespoon, fill each cupcake case half full with your delicious mixture.
  5. Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes (You’ll know they’re fully baked when you insert a wooden skewer and it comes out clean). When finished, remove from the oven and leave to completely cool.
Decorate:
  1.  While your chocolate cupcakes are cooling, let’s prepare the decorations. First, pop your chocolate frosting into a piping bag with a nozzle attached and set aside.
  2. To make your golden eggs, take your chocolate eggs and place them on some parchment paper or a large dish. Take your Gold Glitter Spray and generously spray all of your chocolate eggs to turn them gold! Carefully roll them on all sides to coat them evenly throughout.
  3. Once your cupcakes have fully cooled, take them one at a time and, using your piping bag with chocolate frosting, frost each cupcake with one even layer. Then make 1 or two swirls around the edges of each cupcake to create the nest effect.
  4. Finally, carefully take your golden eggs and place 3 of them in each of your chocolate nests and you’re finished!
