Santa Cupcakes

Ho-Ho-Holidays are just around the corner and this Santa Cupcake guide will bring the holiday magic to your Christmas dessert table! With delicious Vanilla cupcakes, marshmallows and a few cake decorations, you can be sure that Santa will visit your house this Christmas!

Here's What You'll Need To Make 12:

Here’s a cheeky tip: Instead of purchasing all the cupcake ingredients, you can skip straight to the fun part by buying a pack of your favourite ready-made cupcakes, or a pack of cupcake mix from your local supermarket!

For the vanilla cupcakes:

  • 12 Cupcake Cases
  • 125g caster sugar
  • 125g butter or margarine, softened
  • 125g self-raising flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1tsp vanilla extract

For decorating:

  • Bag of Mini White Marshmallows
  • 400g regular Vanilla Frosting (make sure it’s white)
  • Cake Décor Red Frosting (you can also buy extra Vanilla Frosting and colour it red using Cake Décor Red Colour Gel).
  • Cake Décor Edible Eyes
  • Cake Décor Black Writing Icing
  • 12 pink skittles or any other pink candy for the nose.

Here's What You'll Do:

Bake Your Cupcakes:
  1. Preheat your oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. In a large bowl, whisk together the butter, sugar and vanilla extract. Sift in the flour, add the eggs and beat everything together until you achieve a smooth mixture.
  2. Pop your cupcake cases into a cupcake tray. Using a large tablespoon, fill each cupcake case half full with your delicious mixture.
  3. Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes (You’ll know they’re baked when you insert a wooden skewer in the cupcake and it comes out clean). When finished, remove from the oven and leave to completely cool.
  1.  First, let’s make some Pink Frosting for Santa’s face. In a medium bowl, mix your Vanilla Frosting with about 1/4 of your Red Frosting and mix together until the Vanilla Frosting turns pink and the colour is mixed thoroughly (you can always add more Red to turn it more pink). Once done, take your cupcakes and, one at a time, spread the pink frosting over your cupcakes using a large spoon and smooth it out.
  2. For the red Santa hat, place the rest of your Red Frosting in a piping bag with a round nozzle and pipe in a zig-zag motion at the corner of each cupcake, about 1/3 of the way through for each cupcake.
  3. To make Santa’s bear, take your bag of mini White Marshmallows and place a row just below the red frosting and then two rows at the bottom of the cupcake frosting, leaving an empty space in the middle. Pop one final mini marshmallow on top of the red frosting to finish off Santa’s hat!
  4. For the final touches, take your Edible Eyes and place a pair on each cupcake just below the top row marshmallows. Place your Pink Skittle sweet just below the eyes. Finally, using your Black Writing Icing, pipe a small mouth between the marshmallows!
