Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

Follow this recipe to turn your favourite Rice Krispie Treats into stunning and colourful Halloween treats! Even better – you can easily simplify this recipe by purchasing your favourite ready-made Rice Krispie treats from your local supermarket and skipping straight to the fun decorating part!

Here’s a cheeky tip: Instead of baking the rice krispie treats from scratch, you can skip straight to the fun part by buying a pack of your favourite ready-made rice krispie trests from your local supermarket!

For the rice krispie treats:

  • 6 tbsp Salted Butter
  • 16 ounce Mini Marshmallows
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal

Here's What You'll Do:

Make Your Rice Krispie Treats:
  1. Prep your baking dish by lining it with a 9-inch square parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Once it’s melted, add in all but 1 cup of the marshmallows. Reduce heat to low and continue stirring until the marshmallows have completely melted.
  3. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the vanilla. Add the rice kriepies and the remaining 1 cup of marshmallows and gently stir until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into the baking dish and spread the mixture in the baking dish, spreading it evenly. Put the dish aside and let it set for about an hour. Finally, cut it into rectangles and you’re all set!
Decorate Your Rice Krispie Treats!
  1. First, let’s make the colourful frosting. Divide the Vanilla Frosting evenly into seperate small bowls (use one bowl per colour you’ve chosen). In each bowl add in each of the Food Colour Gels and mix well (Pro tip: add more colour gel if you want the colour to be more vibrant!). Take your rice Krispies and, using a spoon, spread the frosting over each of them about halfway. 
  2. Finally, decorate your Rice Krispie Treats with the Edible Eyes and Halloween Sprinkles however you like – the design opportunities are endless!
