How do I use Mirror Glaze?

For best results, firstly coat your cake in a thin layer of frosting or buttercream (you can also use an un-iced cake). Please note that the Mirror Glaze is heated before application so we advise letting your buttercream set for a few hours in the fridge before progressing. When ready to apply Mirror Glaze remove the lid and heat in an 800W microwave on a medium heat for 30 seconds*. Give it a slow stir. Place back in microwave for 30 seconds. Repeat as necessary until smooth and runny. Place cake on a cake rack over a baking tray. Slowly pour over the cake and ensure all the cake is covered.

To store finished cake: your cake should be placed in an airtight container and stored in a fridge for up to 36 hours to keep that glossy look.

*Microwave times vary, adjust heating times to suit

Can I use Mirror Glaze if I don’t have a microwave?

Yes, you can melt Mirror Glaze on the stove in the same way that you would melt chocolate. Simply remove the Mirror Glaze chocolate from the pot and place in a heatproof bowl, and sit this over a pan of barely simmering water (make sure that the water doesn’t touch the bowl). Allow the chocolate to melt and stir occasionally until the glaze is smooth and runny.
